So, no, I'm not a vegan. I aspire to be. Alas, I love cheese! (its ingrained in me due to a fine upbringing in the dairy capital of the USA). However, I do try to eat as healthy as possible, and pass on my culinary discoveries with others. I have started making my own raw foods dessert cook book, which I will contine to post recipes from as often as possible. Now occasionally, we do partake in meat. BUT, I do believe there is a HEALTHY way to do so! Hamburgers and hot dogs are probably NOT the way, but there is a healthy alternative to almost everything! (veggie burgers and turkey dogs for instance!) I have a knack for food. Call it education, call it conditioning, call it a LUST, either way... Ive always found myself at home in the kitchen.
Raising 4 healthy kids in a "Mcdonalds/Pepsi/Cheeto" world isnt easy. My kids are just like everyone elses- they love sugar, candy, soda, ice cream, etc. Why wouldnt they? Those things taste pretty good! And occasionally we do let them partake in such things, but if you ask my kids- theyll take strawberries over chocolate anyday! We chose to foster an understanding of what healthy bodies feel like, and my kids (all under the age of 5) can tell when they eat something unhealthy, because their bodies tell them so. That should be a goal of all parents- their children being able to discern healthy foods from unhealthy ones. We all should listen to our bodies a little more closely...
((ok friends, lovers, readers, companions, associates, coworkers, and such and such... I will return and finish my "opening blog" this afternoon. I will also post photos from a raw foods potluck the fam and I are attending!))
Peace, Love, and Strawberry Kisses,
~melanie~
